Forum Asia (AFA) is a regional non-profit association
of industry professionals dedicated to advancing awareness and discussion
on all aspects of the aerospace business. Established in 1986 as
an informal meeting group, AFA today plays a unique role in Asia
as a regular meeting and information point for all sectors of the
highly interdependent aerospace industry - and promotes positive
government and media appreciation of the aerospace industry and
its vital role in stimulating general economic activity.
In recent years
the Forum has also been instrumental in raising funds for selected
charities - particularly ORBIS, the flying eye hospital.
The Forum's
aim is to create an Asia-wide industry networked club that reflects
the fine traditions of the "Wings Club" in New York. The
Forum has recently agreed, in principal, to reciprocal rights with
the "Aviation Club" in London and is establishing a chapter
in Singapore and plans to operate also in Tokyo, Seoul, Taipei and
Bangkok.
In addition,
the Forum, since 1997, has played a vital role as a stepping-stone
for industry representatives wishing to engage with the Greater
China aerospace market. To date, nine symposiums in Beijing, Zhuhai,
Xiamen, Shanghai and Singapore have been completed. During year
2001, the Forum helped to host and promote five aviation related
conferences in Hong Kong covering specialist fields such as Air
Freight, Aircraft Finance, Airport Operation, M.R.O. and Destination
Marketing.
